I like this picture because it shows how much fun we are having making pizza and that the girl in the far back is so excited to eat some. The pizza came out so good that I wanted to cry while eating it because I had not had any American style pizza since fall of 2011.

This picture is cool because everyone is having so much fun cooking foods from their country. We could not wait to eat it all too.

The place in this picture is at Kikuchi Keikoku. We are all learning about the beautiful waterfall that we were about to walk to. Sadly the main one that we were going to was closed because of a recent tsunami that passed over. The Tsunami did not really hit the waterfall location but the traveling winds did make the rubble from the rock fall which made the area dangerous. But the main reason I choose this picture is because we look so smart and deeply interested in the waterfall that we will soon see.

This picture was taken of Daniel Butterworth at the Kyudo club area. I like this picture because he is making an expression that shows that it is easy to do Kyudo when it is definitely not. It was so hard to shot the arrow into the target.

This is one of my favourite pictures from all of the seminar field trips, it was the day we learnt about Kyudo from other students at the university. It was nice because this was one of the first times that we interacted as a class with the local university students and they were lovely and so helpful and they didn`t even laugh at my miserable attempt at archery. Everybody else did so well and we learnt a lot about this traditional form of Japanese martial arts. There are other more attractive photos that I could have written about but I love the relaxed way that everybody looks and the casual nature of this photo. I loved all of the field trips we went on and really look forward to next semesters classes. But I am a little sad that half of the people in this photo will not be here to enjoy them with me. Good luck on your return home Minasan. And thank you so much Baba Sensei for an amazing experience so far.

料理作り！！！

                               みんな料理うまい！！！

 

2012年、日本文化演習の最後の演習は料理会だった。

みんな、それぞれ料理を作って色んな国の料理を食べることができてよかったと思った。

私が作ったのは부대찌개という韓国の鍋料理だ。

この料理はもともと韓国にある米軍基地のあたりの食堂から始まって今は韓国の鍋料理の一つになった。ハムやギョーザ、玉ねぎなど値段が安い材料を韓国の고추장というソースを使って作った鍋料理だ。最近はラーメンの麺やチーズなども入れて好んでいる。

부대찌개は特に難しい料理ではない。材料さえあれば誰でも簡単に料理を作ることができる。

キムチ、2種類以上のハム、玉ねぎ、ネギ、しょゆ、豚肉、ギョーザ、고추장などでできるから一度作ってみるのをおすすめする。

일본문화연수의 수업으로 키쿠치 계곡에 갔다왔다. 전날에 비가 많이 와서 마지막 까지는 갈 수 없었지만 그래도 겁나 수영하고 싶을 정도로 깨끗하고 수박을 담궈 먹고싶을 정도였다. 여름에는 사람이 많아지고 휴양림 비슷하게 운영을 하고 있는 듯 하다. 방학을 하면 꼭 다시 친구들이랑 가기로 약속을 했다.

특히 물도 깨끗했지만 진짜 녹색 천지였다. 나무는 하나같이 전부 높고 곧바르고 공기는 아주 맑았다. 나무의 덕택인가? ㅋㅋㅋ 비가 온 다음 날이라 좀 아쉬웠지만 그래도 좋았다. 한국에서도 이맨치 좋은 계곡도 많지만 여기는 여기나름 대로 매력이 겁나게 많은 곳이라고 생각한다.

Doing Kyuudo was an interesting experience to say the least.　We do not have this kind of sport usually available at university level or lower in Canada so suffice to say it was something I was curious about. I picked this picture because during us attempt to shoot the target there was a little bet going on between me, Dan and Kathryn. Kathryn being the only one to hit the target won our little challenge. Through this picture you can see she has at least half decent form compared to say me or Dan.

This picture is very nice because despite the intense amount of industrialization in Japan, it shows that Japan still retains a lot of the natural beauty it once had(albeit in small select areas). This kind of scenery is what we Canadians are rarely shown whenever Japan is brought up. For the most part, Japan is thought of to be an industrious place filled with technological wonders and tall concrete buildings scraping the sky. The nature of Japan is only brought up perhaps during olden tales of Japan, in the days of the Samurai. I think this side of Japan is much more interesting that the busy industrial center that it is thought to be.

This picture is just plain funny. After every trip, short or long, everyone was always tired. Always on the bus back home at least a third of us were asleep. We always put a lot of effort into our travels, taking lots of pictures or trying to see everything. Because of that, afterwards, we were always practically dead by the end.

This last picture I just thought was a nice one of us all at Sado. Just a way to kind of cap off the fun experiences we had. It was a great time and I hope to be back in Japan eventually.
